About me

Divorce is difficult enough without losing sight of what matters most: your children, your future, and the person you want to be when this is over.

Landon Poppleton, PhD, JD, brings decades of experience working at the intersection of psychology, family dynamics, and the law to his work with parents navigating divorce and high-conflict separation.

As a psychologist, attorney, consultant, and experienced neutral evaluator, Dr. Poppleton has spent years working on some of the most difficult family-law cases—cases in which the central question was not simply what each parent wanted, but what was actually in the best interests of the children.

That role has sometimes required him to tell difficult truths.

In his work with courts and families, Dr. Poppleton has testified and provided professional opinions that were unfavorable to parents whose decisions, behavior, or approach he believed were harming their children. Not everyone appreciated those conclusions. But his responsibility was never to tell a parent what they wanted to hear. His responsibility was to follow the evidence, understand the family system, and keep the child’s interests at the center of the analysis.

That experience is at the heart of his coaching.

Dr. Poppleton does not approach divorce coaching as an advocate for one parent against the other. He works for the person sitting in front of him—but he does so with the perspective of someone who has spent years seeing what happens when conflict, fear, anger, or the desire to “win” begins to overshadow the needs of children.

His coaching helps parents step back from the immediate conflict and develop a larger strategy for navigating divorce: making sound decisions, communicating effectively, managing difficult emotions, protecting their relationship with their children, responding to high-conflict behavior, and building a parenting approach that will withstand scrutiny when it matters.

For some parents, that means learning how to protect themselves and their children in a difficult family system. For others, it means recognizing where their own behavior is contributing to the conflict and making meaningful changes.

Either way, the goal is the same:

To help you get through divorce without becoming someone you don’t want to be—and to emerge as the parent your children need.

Dr. Poppleton’s approach combines psychological science, legal knowledge, extensive experience with family-law disputes, and a practical understanding of how high-conflict families actually function. He understands both sides of the courtroom: the experience of the parent living through the dispute and the perspective of the professionals who must ultimately evaluate the family’s circumstances.

That combination allows him to offer something different from conventional divorce coaching.

You don’t need someone who will simply take your side. You need someone who will help you see clearly, act strategically, and keep your priorities intact when divorce makes all three difficult.

Dr. Poppleton provides coaching and consultation to parents navigating divorce, separation, parenting disputes, and high-conflict family circumstances.
